RELAY INFORMATION Print

Relays may be 2 or 3 runners in the half-marathon.  If only 2 people run, the runners may do ANY 2 of the 3 legs.

Signing up on-line may seem confusing, but really isn't.  One person signs up as the "captain" and creates the team.  The other members sign up under that captain's name.  Only the captain pays.

The distances for the legs are 3.3 miles which will take you around the initial "loop" on the course and bring you back to the start.  From there, the next runner will run to Ritter Park for a 5.7 mile leg.  The last runner then runs the final 4.1 miles of the race (which corresponds to the last 4.1 miles of the marthon course).

Teams only need one car to get around on race morning.  Everyone can be at the start and watch the first runner come around back to the start.  Then the first and third runner can drive to Ritter Park (driving should not be difficult because the roads are all open from the start to the park) and await the second runner.  Then the first and second runners can drive back to the stadium for the finish.

Since there are far less teams in the race (than total runners in the other races) the relay WILL NOT be chip timed.  Since this is the case, we have set up a second finish line right next to the marathon/half-marathon finish line.   As you finish the race a volunteer will point you in the right direction for the final 50 yards.  Make sure your number is on the front or you won't even be allowed to enter the stadium.

All relay runners will have numbers to wear.  All runners receive race long sleeve t-shirts.  All receive medals for finishing (we will give the final runner medals as they finish to take to the other runners).  For those receiving awards, all runners receive the awards.

In addition:   there is a special award for the best team name.  Be creative, and the race committee accepts bribes in this department as they decide afterwards who won the award (just kidding).   The award will be mailed to the winning team as this sometimes takes a week or 2 to decide.
